A Swedish apartment with dramatic dark shades

0 Edit Artikel
Why hello there Thursday! Is it just me or is the week whistling by?! It could be that time flies when you're having fun and yesterday I had a great day with Valentina Fussell (you might recognise the name from this piece I shared the other day). We're working on an exciting project which is well overdue. I can't wait to share it with you....watch this space! But back to the here and now - and today I thought we could take a tour of this fab home in Gothenburg. Think beautiful dark wood floors, dark grey / blue kitchen units, black accent walls, bold shelving and rich textures such as concrete, wood, sheepskin and leather. So dramatic and so lovely! Let's take a look.....

Stylist: Emma Fisher, Photography: Alen Cordic - Bjurfors

What a great space?! And what a contrast to yesterday's light and airy apartment. Which look do you prefer?

Get the look: Tom Dixon beat lights, super front door handles, Gotland sheepskin throw (how have I never discovered this beautiful Etsy shop before?!), diamond black and white rug.

You can see the full tour of this apartment over at Bjurfors (yes, it's for sale!).

Oh and off topic, but if you're up for a little DIY project  - how fab is this wall with painted 'eyes'?! Something for the weekend perhaps?

Have a lovely day!

A Swedish apartment bathed in light

Hello! I hope you had a wonderful time over Easter (for those of you who were off)? Thank you so much for entering the big Easter give-away, what an overwhelming response! - the winner has now been announced here (the suspense....). I'm back in sunny Sweden and enjoying one of my slow coffee mornings (cue - children and man out the door, coffee on the go, First Aid Kit on Spotify - bliss!). I thought I'd share this lovely apartment in Sweden today. I know exactly the spot I'd sit and enjoy a coffee - can you guess?! And then I'd pad around on the beautiful light wood floor, or snuggled up on the sofa reading in the natural light pouring through the window. Want to join me?!

Entrance Fastighetsmäkleri

What do you say? Somewhere you could wile away a morning?

Get the look: striped rug, mid-century modern coffee table, sheepskin chair seat, Thonet chairs, graphite linen pillows and white bedding, black and white striped wallpaper.

A couple of other things I love from around the web today:

12 unique staircases...do you have a favourite?!

Navy tiles and black clawfoot bathtub - what a fab bathroom?!  There's also this bathroom, if you prefer a slightly more traditional touch.

The perfect bedroom?

Work space inspiration - those shelves!

I've always wanted to own my own Kiln (could this be the year?!) and fantacise about sitting in a studio exactly like this one. I'd then store all my new creations here - of course!

Have a lovely day!

PS If you didn't win last weekend's give-away, no fear - there will be another one this weekend!.....Ooooo.

PPS I'm sure you were as surprised as I was about Instagram's algorithm announcement...if you like to keep up with my latest posts, click on the three dots to the top left of one of my posts and click 'Turn on Post Notifications' to ensure you receive them in your feed.

The winner of the beautiful linen bedding in charcoal

Thank you so much to everyone for entering the very exciting Easter give-away from INGREDIENTS LDN, a *beautiful* new, independent lifestyle concept store. I had a few messages saying their comments were disappearing from the comments section of the blog but the good news is I received every single one of them in my inbox, so I've been scrolling through all 400+ entries this morning to select a winner (not easy!).

And that person is.....Alena who said: "I found lots of beautiful stuff on LDN's website. I love the black accessories - the black belly basket (I have never seen one in black), the black cutting boards, the black round candle holder, the black and/or the gray jug. I also imagine the Body Oil must be wonderful, not only for the body but also for the senses because something with bergamot and grapefruit is bound to smell very beautiful.
And of course I love the linen bedding - who doesn't?!?"

Indeed! Alena please send me an e-mail to claim your lovely linen bed set in charcoal.

For everyone else, we're all winners as we get to shop at this beautiful shop from now on, right?!

This give-away is now closed.

A lovely pared-back Skåne farmhouse

0 Edit Artikel
I can't believe it's Easter already (I hope you enjoyed my Easter DIY edit!). As promised, I'm back with a home tour before I take a few days off over the holidays (I hope you're planning a nice, relaxing few days too?). This 19th century farmhouse is located in the small village of Förslöv (which I had the pleasure of visiting to shoot a home for my book last spring) here in Sweden's southernmost county of Skåne. The home has been beautifully renovated by architect Lisette Bramsell Ohlsson and her husband Mats Ohlsson - basically 'building a new one within the old one'. Rustic wood beams give warmth to the space which has been decorated using neutral tones and pared-back furnishings throughout. Let's take a peek...

Elle Decor. Styling Pella Hedeby Photography Kristofer Johnsson

Lovely! That exterior?!

Get the look: Nemo sofa, wood flooring by Dinesen, Kvist light, Thonet chair, white pom poms (seen in Ella's bedroom), the bath was a flea market find and painted.

For more pictures and info on where to find items check out the full piece over at Elle Decor

Other truly lovely Scandinavian farmhouses (in case you missed them previously) include the monochrome home of a Swedish photographer, a pretty västergötland farmhouse and a boho home,

Before I shoot off, here are a few other links from around the web I love:

How to throw a dinner party in under an hour

Count me in: Elderberry-pear hazlenut cake in that location! Honestly?

And comfort food.

The cutest children's bedding. And the perfect Scandinavian kid's bedroom inspiration.

Oh and make sure you enter my big easter give-away this weekend - for your chance to win one of my favourite prizes ever... oh the suspense! Back with more info shortly.

Until then, have a lovely day!

My big Easter DIY egg edit

0 Edit Artikel
Do you have any Easter holiday traditions? Every year the girls and I come to London to spend it with my parents (P stays behind in Sweden to get our boat ready for the season, which is actually one of the highlights of his year - men?!). Besides the annual Easter egg hunt (we like the trail at Ham House), the girls and I also love to decorate the home with handmade pieces. This year we're taking inspiration from these fab eggs (and a bunny napkin for the easter table - how cute is that?!)....

Will you be making any of these?!

Just in case, here's how:

1 and 2: Love the cute bunny ear tiaras by Zwo:ste
3: Girl.Inspired made these fab eggs with gold glitter.
4, 5: The talented Elisabeth Heier describes how to make these pretty gold eggs here. And pretty eggs with feathers.
5: I'm loving these glam 'pendant' eggs by Lene Bjerre
6: These delicate flowers in egg shells are so simple yet so pretty.

A beautiful boho cottage (to rent!) in Byron Bay

0 Edit Artikel
Stop the press! I was planning on posting a completely different home tour today. And then this space happened. Everything had to be re-written (even though I've got a flight to catch!). Photographer and stylist extraordinaire Louise Roche recently captured Haveli cottage for Airbnb owner, Heidi (yes, it is available to rent...!). Described as an 'Indonesian & Indian inspired luxe cottage', the boho property is located in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia and is decorated throughout using items from Heidi's iconic shop. As if we needed another excuse to travel Down Under?!

Photographer and stylist: Louise Roche / The Design Villa

Could you imagine spending your holiday here?

Louise also used the cottage as the most beautiful backdrop ever for three of her clients: The Boho Bungalow, Rock Ribbins Eco Gifts and Shima Lifestyle (some of the items of which can also be seen in these pics). She is organising a new collaboration shoot from Port Douglas soon, if you're selling homeware, fashion or jewellery and would like to participate pop her a mail here.

Similar items (I love): jute rug, Indonesian straw bag, Batik cushions.

Other absolutely stunning homes in Australia (in case you missed them) include a light and airy cottagethe retro beach house and a pared-back home in neutrals. And of course, if you don't already - I highly recommend following Australian design blogs Dust Jacket and The Design Files (please feel free to add your blog tips in the comment section below!).

Right. I'd better get packing for my trip to London this afternoon. Go, go go!

Have a lovely day!

The happy and eclectic home of Ingrid Jansen

Hello Monday! This is the best Monday morning I've had in weeks. I'm on the train heading over The Bridge to Copenhagen for a day of shopping. Eeeee! But first. Today's post. Since I'm feeling super happy and relaxed I've decided to go for something similarly chilled. You might recognise the lovely 'handmade home' of Ingrid Jansen of Wood & Wool Stool from this post. And now my talented friend Holly Marder has paid a visit and captured her Dutch home from a whole new angle. Think bright colours, beautiful vintage Boucherouite rugs, and flea market finds. What a perfect home tour to kick off the week?

Holly Marder

Absolutely loving those bright pops of colour against the white - how about you?

Get the look: bright coloured Boucherouite rug (also love the rugs and cushions sold here), Ingrid sells the pattern to make your own fab pineapple cushion or throw here. This sun burst mirror is similar. Subscribe to Milk Decoration here.

You can see more fab pictures of this home on Holly's blog or over at Decor8. Enjoy!

In case you missed them, you might want to check out these homes with lovely, bright splashes of colour: a relaxed home in Florida, a Swedish home with a relaxed vibe and a happy studio in L.A.

Is this your kind of style?

Oh, and excited to have finally got started on a sitting room make-over in my own home. Here's the latest

Have a great start to the week!

PS Thank you so much to everyone for entering the Snug Hug & Co give-away this weekend. I'm excited to announce that the winner has now been revealed here!
